​Counting of boxes allowed despite video evidence

Gamato in a media conference yesterday afternoon in Port Moresby said only one of the six ballot boxes, which have allegations of foul play raised, will be put aside during the election counting.  

“According to observations by the State Legal Team for Jiwaka, for the first six disputed ballot boxes, there is some form of evidence in the form of amateur video footage for only one ballot box, which is for Kendu 1 polling place.

“The boxes from these polling venues of Bolba 1, Bolba 2, Tolu 1, Tolu 2, and Kendu 2 will be counted

VIDEO: Alleged vote rigging caught on camera

The video, posted by Andrew Kumi, a candidate for North Waghi, shows a group of men allegedly filling out ballot papers and placing them in ballot boxes for the North Waghi Electorate.

It has been claimed that these men are supporters for incumbent MP Dr Fabian Pok.

North Wahgi People to benefit under Housing Scheme

The housing scheme included purchase of 45 chainsaws and 45 Lucas Mills Council Wards in 2013. With the aim of one home for each family, this project is being hailed as one of the first for this Province and also the country too.

The District Administrator North Wahgi Nalan Kawa, stated that 120 containers of roofing iron will be shipped from China of which  40 containers have been received already, with 20 in Lae. The remaining 60 containers will be shipped in this year. 

Each 20ft containers hold up to 3000 sheets of roofing iron.
