Mr Vee said since the rebirth as Nasfund, the Fund has continued to perform positively.

“Positive results across membership growth, member savings, net asset value, and more importantly, return to members each year through our annual interest crediting rate,” he said.

“From a Balance Sheet of K300 million in 2002, your Fund has grown to a value that now stands at over K6 billion.

“Similarly, returns to members in the form of interest has also been positive over the last 20 years.

The National Superannuation Fund (Nasfund), and Digicel PNG today signed an agreement that now allows Nasfund members to make payments to member superannuation accounts, using the CellMoni platform.

This agreement has come about in response to Nasfund’s desire to make the superannuation contribution process much easier and efficient for its membership.

Given that Digicel’s CellMoni service is being used for various bill payments providers, it was a natural avenue for expansion by Nasfund to improve member contribution safely and conveniently.

This MoU enables the Fund to be the official distribution point for the PNGCF Awareness Information Education Communication (IEC) print materials. Nasfund’s extensive branch network throughout PNG will support the foundation’s public health and education outreach programs.

The Fund’s collaboration with PNGCF is important, especially during these times where continuous engagement has become difficult due to the recent COVID-19 surge and the “Niupela Pasin” measures.

Through Nasund’s Eda Supa product, members of Poro Cocoa Cooperative Society of Astrolabe Bay Local Level Government (LLG) formally joined the Fund, with the first group of farmers receiving their membership cards.

The registration of these farmers was made possible through the Fund’s partnership with Madang Cocoa Company Limited (MCCL) and Madang Cocoa Cooperative Association (MCCA).

The farm and factory workers of Mainland Holdings Ltd wish the same courtesy could be extended to them. All they want is for management to listen to their fears regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and look for a way forward.

Nasfund held its first GDP awareness session on August 6, at the University of Papua New Guinea and final-year students attended it from all UPNG Faculties.

The session entailed what opportunities were on offer through the GDP as well as its selection criteria.

Chief Officer Human Capital, Vincent Lialu said the decision to begin the GDP 2022 awareness was to ensure that eligible final-year students are being provided an insight into PNGs leading superannuation provider.

Nasfund provides an overview of Eda Supa during its monthly appearance on Nasfund FM100 Talkback, on ensuring that current and potential members are aware and informed of the requirements and benefits of saving with Nasfund.

According to Ms Lavaki, the updates given in the monthly sessions are essential given the rise in numbers of SMEs all across the country.

Nasfund Chairman, Charles Vee was present last week to open the Maprik Service Centre.

According to Mr Vee, the service centre is a welcome addition to the Nasfund branch network and complements the Fund’s existing branch in Wewak.

It now allows more people in and around Maprik to have access to superannuation and savings and loan services.

Tarutia will be representing PNG and the Pacific on the Board of Save the Children while Williame-Igara is PNG’s new Country Director.

Tarutia is an experienced superannuation professional and corporate executive with over 33 years of experience with PNG’s leading superannuation provider, Nasfund.

Through the Fund’s ‘Know Your Super’ program, YPOMCCI members were provided an overview of Nasfund, and given an insight into the Fund’s products and services, with a Question & Answer session for participants. 

According to Nasfund Chief Officer Member Services Anne Wilson, this partnership with YPOMCCI was the first for this year.

Wilson said, “Since the start of this year, the Fund has been conducting the Know Your Super sessions for individual companies.

“YPOMCCI is the first NGO to be a beneficiary of this exercise.
