Re-elected ELCPNG executives challenged

Pastor and missionary teacher from the Philippines Lutheran Church, Reverend Edwin Huevos, delivered this message to the church executives during their installation at Ogelbeng Seminary in Mt. Hagen, Western Highlands Province, on Sunday, March 17.

Airport runway repairs progressing

NAC states, “The repair works were undertaken recently after we identified defects on a section of the runway. We anticipate that these works, which commenced on October 02nd, 2023, should take up to eight weeks to complete subject to prevailing weather conditions.”

This maintenance and repair work has caused the temporary downgrade of flights into Mount Hagen from Fokker 100 aircraft to Q400 or similar aircraft. 

NAC Starts Peak Period Ops

This special Christmas operations will include collaboration with the Royal PNG Constabulary. This has been set up at the Jacksons Airport including, Mount Hagen, Goroka, Nadzab and Madang airports.

At the Jacksons airport, three security checkpoints have been set up at key locations within to carry out appropriate security checks on vehicles and persons entering the airport area.

Demolition along proposed Hagen highway

This newsroom was informed that under the supervision of military personnel, properties have been demolished.

While some property owners have expressed dissatisfaction in the manner the demolition exercise took place, and the undervaluing of some of their properties, they say they will be compensated and hope the Government comes good with the payment.

Properties along the 4 kilometre stretch of road have been broken down to pave way for the much anticipated road infrastructure, giving a new facelift to PNG’s third largest city.

Option of Election petition remains

Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia refused an application filed by James Yoka Ekip and Simon Sanagke over the Electoral Commission’s decision in appointing Paul Goema and Andrew Kerowa as the Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer for the Hagen Open seat respectively.

They asked the court on Thursday through their lawyer to stay the decision of the National Court, when it refused to allow a Judicial review to be done into the appointment of Goema and Kerowa by Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato.
