Son's practical joke on his mother

Barbara Nielsen's son, Damien, welcomed her home from a business trip by holding up a sign that read "welcome home from prison Mom".

Ms Nielsen had just got off the plane from a business trip for the manufacturing company she works for and was waiting at the baggage claim when she was greeted by her family and the embarrassing sign.

But even she could see the funny side in the practical joke, posting a picture of the sign on Facebook.

Jail term reduced for murderer

Robert Peter was sentenced by the Kokopo National Court on March 2 to 30 years in prison at the Kerevat Correctional Institution over the murder of Peter Pomat.

He filed an appeal against the jail term. This appeal was heard and allowed by a recent Supreme Court sitting in Kokopo, which substituted that 30 year jail term by half.

The Supreme Court found that the trial judge did not consider the emotional state of the 25-year-old man when deciding the jail term to impose as his punishment.

We love our TV moms

The matriarch on Fox's hit series "Empire" is an ex-con taking on her ex-husband Lucious, reclaiming her part in the family record company and reuniting with sons Andre, Jamal, and Hakeem.

Played to the hilt by actress Taraji P. Henson, "Cookie" is tough and just one of the modern TV moms we adore.

Here are some others:

Bonnie Plunkett on "Mom"

It isn't easy to make drug and alcohol abuse recovery funny, but Allison Janney as Bonnie and Anna Faris as her daughter, Christy, do a great job on the hit CBS comedy "Mom."

Now is the perfect time to shop

Not to spoil the fun but many shops have Mother’s Day specials going on.

This means you get the opportunity to buy for yourself many products at special price discount or special gift hampers at low price.

But importantly, don’t forget your mother.

Many children and fathers are out hunting today to treat the special lady of the house.

Some are celebrating today, others are tomorrow.

But the occasion has had stores full since early this morning.

Loop PNG lifestyle visited Vision City this morning to a packed crowd.

Birth PTSD: Mothers speak out about long-term trauma

Olivia was born at 25 weeks and weighed 635 grams.

The new mum was plunged into a profound shock that is usually associated with returned soldiers.

"I didn't realise that I was at risk too," she said.

"When they [the doctors] tilted the bed slightly ... I could hear my blood running off ... it was horrific, I ended up with a third of my blood volume," she said.

Ms Livesey-Giles cried when she first saw her daughter.

"I just started crying and apologising to her ... she didn't look like a baby, there were tubes and wires and everything," she said.

Pregnant model Porsche Thomas body-shamed for showing her belly

The daughter of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Peter Thomas put a bikini photo of herself on Instagram at the end of last month, just before giving birth to twins.

But she's since been trolled over the shot, with one person asking why her belly was "so black".

Another user said her pregnant body looked "nasty".

The model, actress and writer, who gave birth to twins August and Berlin on Saturday, has responded to say she's now getting on with her life.

Mothers sweat to keep family going

She moved to Kimbe 15 years ago when her husband, a local pastor with the AOG church, moved to the West New Britain capital.

They have 9 children, of which 4 are females and 5 males. Out of the 9 children 4 have married and are living with their families.

Life looking after their children and taking care of them is a challenge.

To make ends meet, she has to toil daily at the market in the hot sun or sometimes rainy weather.
