NCD Police arrest home owners for aiding car thieves

Police raided the home at around 10pm on Wednesday night and were shocked to find the three vehicles that were recently stolen as well as an assortment of car parts in the yard.

The man 29 and his 24 year old wife have been taken into the Boroko cells for questioning.

NCD Central police Commander Jerry Frank said enough is enough warning police are now cracking down on such hot spots like Vadavada.

He adds that crime will not prosper unless the community steps up and take ownership and stop helping criminals by hiding their loot.

Two more picked up in suspected drug ring

The raid was carried out after a tip off as police zero in on what they suspect is a major drug ring in the Central Province.

The two arrested are 23 and 29 years respectively.

Police believe they are part of a bigger network of individuals peddling marijuana between Goilala district and Port Moresby.

​Women picked up for fighting

The two women from Tari in the Hela Province were fighting over a bride price ceremony that took place last weekend.

The two, aged 34 and 39, were taken to the Boroko police station and charged with disturbing the peace.

Both women were picked up after residents called about  the fight.

Loop PNG was told that the two were picked up by a foot beat patrol who were walking their beat as part of the Games opeartions.

Police report that the two women will each be let off with a warning and asked to attend a mediation meeting next week.

Security forces make simulation runs

Loop PNG understands that the forces were going over mock drills as well as specific tasking activities .

So far all operational and supplementary orders have been given out while site commanders and unit leaders have taken tours of their areas.

Meantime all provincial representatives of the police, army and C.S have settled into their tasks as well.

This week will see an increase in security forces presence in and around the city, while more road and street checks will be carried out.

​Youths fight at Unagi

The three aged 15, 16 and 17 were picked up while under the influence of home brew and were questioned at the Juvenile Centre at Boroko.

Police report that all three boys will be charged with under-age drinking, drinking in a public place and consuming home brew.

All youths and their parents will be meeting with juvenile officers tomorrow morning to go over their rehabilitation as well as discuss their charges.

All three youths according to police will most likely be let off with a warning as first time offenders.

Men picked up for drugs

The two men aged 34 and 45 were picked up with almost 5kg worth of marijuana on them.

Both men are in Boroko police custody.

Meantime, two more Goilala youths aged 17 and 16 were picked up at the 5 mile Jack Pidik park with 1kg of marijuana later in the afternoon.

The two youths are also now at the Boroko police station.

All the men will be charged with drug possession and intent to sell.

Car stolen at gunpoint recovered

The CRV car was recovered by a police unit at about 6 on Sunday morning after some residents called to tell police that it was reportedly abandoned there earlier in the morning.

Police report that the car was taken at Rainbow at about 11pm last Thursday night when its accountant owner was tailed to his house from the shopping mall at Vision City

The man was held up by three men armed with a homemade gun and a bush knife.

The car is now at the Boroko traffic yard and appears to have been stripped of its speakers and sound system.
