Miss PNG pageant

Voting for Miss Pacific Pageant PNG will be through SMS

Bemobile users in the country are being given an opportunity to vote for their favourite contestant via SMS beginning noon today (October 19 – Wednesday).

Bemobile users can vote as many times as they like by dialling code 16110 and SMS a name of a contestant.

Pageant week starts at St John's Anglican Church

As its yearly tradition, the pageant began with a church service today at the St John's Anglican Church downtown, Port Moresby.
This year's six contestants and the committee, including reigning Miss PNG and Miss Pacific Islands Abigail Havora, joined the fellowship, led by Bishop Danny Guka.

Pageant brings out best in women, says Havora

“Too many times, we keep ourselves in our shell, pageants like this bring out the best in us.”

She speaks from experience, saying that she has grown with the pageant.

Three young women, Rose Lakoro Pitoi, Dorothy Elliott and Hane Kokoha also want to take this path.

They have expressed interest in entering the pageant but haven't secured a sponsor to do so yet.

“I’m interested. I haven’t tried out in a pageant before but I’d like to give it a shot and if they can secure a sponsor for me, that would be really great,” says Rose.
