Work on Yangoru-Saussia hospital starts in 2024

This follows a visit by the East Sepik Provincial Health Authority chief executive officer, Matthew Kaluvia and his management team to see the proposed site in Yangoru and meeting with the Yangoru-Saussia District Development Authority (DDA) Board in its final meeting for this year.

Minister Maru said: “The first phase of the construction of the Level 4 District Hospital will commence after designs are completed and tenders are called and awarded by the East Sepik Provincial Health Authority.”

Yangoru School of Excellence Opened

This dream has come to fruition in the delivery of educational infrastructure in all the LLGs of the district especially during this time of parliament.

The cream of it all is the Yangoru School of Excellence, which was opened recently by the Deputy Australian High Commissioner, Dr. Joanne Loundes.

People of Yangoru-Saussia gathered to see the opening of the gateway to opportunities – Yangoru School of Excellence. It was a moment of achievement for Maru.

“We want to have quality education not just the quantity,” said Maru.

Maru resigns from PNC

The staunch PNC supporter officially resigned on January 15th 2021.

In his announcement Yangoru-Saussia MP, Richard Maru, says he will move to the middle benches in the next sitting of Parliament.

Maru says he wants to offer an alternative voice to the Government towards PNG’s social and economic development.

Yangoru-Saussia notes progress in development

The recent transformation included access to electricity by rural villagers of Kiniambu.

Advancing further on development from the starting up of the Regional Cocoa Nursery in East Yangoru LLG and the Chicken, Grain and Cocoa Innovation Projects in Numbo LLG, hope comes to reality with the completion of the power supply to the area by PNG Power Limited.

On 27th December, Member for Yangoru-Saussia, Richard Maru, officiated at the launch of the electrification program.

The unit will be in the province for the next three months.

Minister Maru said the move to have MS13 in his district is to ensure law and order is maintained as the multimillion-kina Sepik chicken, grain and cocoa project kicks off construction phase in the coming weeks.

He urged the team to ensure the protection of State assets.

No need for motion of no confidence: Maru

In a press conference held today with the Wewak MP and Minister for Inter-Government Relations, Kevin Isifu, Maru said the people of Yangoru-Saussia district have seen tangible development and services reach them for the first time under this People’s National Congress-led government.

“As far as I am concerned, there is no need for a vote of no confidence because there is no justification to warrant one against the current government led by Peter O’Neill,” he stated.
