Lae MP encourages young players

Rosso was at the Lae Secondary School field on Saturday for the 2023 Lae Schools Rugby League Competition (LSRC) grand final.

“It is not about winning the grand final. It is all about providing an avenue so you (student-players both boys and girls) can gain confidence, learn new skills and rules, and strive for better. So one day you can represent us on a bigger stage.”

Fix your home, stressed Lae MP

Apart from being the Lae MP, Rosso is also PNG’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Lands and Physical Planning and also the Minister for Labour and Immigration.

“Whilst in my capacity as Deputy Prime Minister – I do work for our government and country – you always have to fix your backyard and that’s your home,” he said. “That’s a place where we all grew up.

“Whether you grew up in a settlement or suburb or wherever in the communities around Lae – you’ve got to fix your home. And I think we’ve done well in the last six years with all your help and the business houses.”

Markham collision: Lae MP sends sympathies

The MP says while road conditions are often responsible for road accidents, it is avoidable if drivers are careful.

He says it’s about drivers driving safely, carefully and within the speed limits.

With sketchy facts, the MP did not want to comment further.

The road accident on Saturday caused 7 deaths and 21 injuries, with 4 people still admitted at the hospital and 1 in critical condition.

It was the result of a collision between a 15-seater PMV bus and a five door vehicle travelling up to Nadzab.
