Modilon hospital gets ambulance but needs more support

According to the Madang Provincial Health Authority (MaPHA) staff, there is so much more needed to be done in order to have the hospital operate as the province’s main hospital.

An ambulance is one of the vital resources any hospital should have for emergency responses and operations, Modilon General Hospital has not had an ambulance for several years and this had hindered so many lifesaving operations. It had taken three months for necessary processes to be met before the ambulance was finally donated by Madang Governor, Ramsy Pariwa in December 2023.

Uguro commends people for peaceful celebrations

Uguro told this newsroom that the people behaved well and observed the festive period peacefully.

“Our people behaved well during Christmas and New Year, and I commend the police personnel, including community policing for doing their call of duty very well with limited resources. 

“Christmas does not bring anything new but helps us to reform and transform our lifestyle doing the same thing in a different way. 

“I also commend the youths and citizens for doing the right thing by observing the New Year’s Eve with respect and love.” 

Madang Police extend festive operations

Madang Governor Ramsey Pariwa said the exercise is being extended to ensure law and order issues are contained and managed well before they can cease.

Pariwa said the festive operation was successful. There were minor law and order matters that police were able to deal with immediately.

He commended members of the community for working with police to ensure the Christmas period was peaceful.

“I also commend police personnel and PNGDF personnel for working well together in carrying out policing services in the community,” he said.

Beon inmates baptized

The indication of their baptism came after the inmates were convicted of the word of God through the book of John and Acts, which states that believers must be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit.

Madang District Pastor, Tom Kanisa said the baptism marks a significant step in the growth of the church and in ending the year 2023.

Awar plantation receives machinery

Member for Bogia Robert Naguri delivered the trucks and machinery on behalf of the Government for the resumption of the old Awar copra and cocoa Plantation recently.

The equipment included a tractor, a three-ton truck, a Toyota Landcruiser utility, one portable sawmill, four chainsaws, a power generator, one compressor, four motorbikes and one Toyota Hilux twin cab.

These trucks and machinery will be used for clean-up work and get the plantation ready for nursery of the coconut and cocoa seeds in preparation of planting.

Kalibobo lights up for Christmas

Ward 2 council and Deputy Town Mayor Sammy Tindipu has brought again the Christmas spirit into town, lighting up the Kalibobo lighthouse for families to share the Christmas spirit.

Tindipu initiated the Christmas lights five years ago after winning the Ward 2 council elections in 2019.

In five years, he has been sourcing sponsorship and support from business houses, the provincial government and ward funding to sustain this initiative.

Modilon Hospital receives Christmas donations

This will enable the hospital to provide special meals for patients during the festive period.

Golden Rise Investments came with two truckloads of gifts while RD Tuna Canners also joined with 171 cartons of eggs from their Vidar Chicken Farm.

Golden Rise Investments wished the hospital staff, management and all patients a happy Christmas wishing the patients well this festive season..

The presentation was done to the catering department of Modilon Hospital and received by the Administration Manager, John Jeremiah.

Luma is Usino-Bundi Acting DA

Local MP and Minister for Education Jimmy Uguro introduced Mr Luma to the people of Usino Bundi in an official introduction ceremony.

In his maiden speech, Mr. Luma vowed to work well with the people of Usino, Bundi and Gama.

Liquor ban in Madang for peaceful celebrations

Only certain clubs, hotels and restaurants have been permitted to sell alcohol to their guests.

According to Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Robert Baim, the ban will help police monitor hot spots where home brew trade takes place. It will also allow them to crack down on the illegal factories (production spots) of homebrew and to apprehend suspects.

Children’s outpatient receives help

The assistance comes timely, when the province is currently experiencing cuts in water supply.

The donation is a kind personal gesture from the Office of the Madang Governor, as a token of commitment to the Madang Provincial Hospital Health Authority (MaPHA).

Governor, Ramsey Pariwa states that due to impediments within the Provincial Administration, he is unable to source funding from the office to assist the hospital’s needs. But has resorted to assisting from his pocket until internal issues are being sorted at the moment.
