Man allegedly assaults pregnant partner

Joshua Zerio is charged under the Family Protection (Amendment) Act 2022, section 6A, ‘Aggravated domestic violence’, after he allegedly abused his 28-year-old partner for two weeks.

According to police, Zerio, who lives at Seventh Street in Lae, hit Dianny Lingnonge on the back with a “heavy stone” on April 10th.

On April 13th, at 7.30pm, after assaulting his partner at home, he made her get into the vehicle, promising to go to Nadzab.

“Instead, he drove around town and to Eagle St, towards Bumbu River,” where he threatened to drown her.

Suspects in journo’s assault charged

Lae metropolitan superintendent, Commander Anthony Wagambie Jnr, confirmed today that the journalist had laid complaints for unlawful assault by these men.

The men, who are attached with the office of Governor for Morobe, were arrested and charged on two counts: one each for assault and one each for drunk and disorderly behaviour.

Wagambie Jnr stated that the incident occurred at Erap. Police were alerted via a phone call and quickly responded, escorting both parties back to the police station.

Lae Police arrest fraudsters

According to Lae Police boss, Anthony Wagambie Jnr, the three men have been carrying out their activities for more than five years.

He said they used company cheques to either do large orders from wholesale shops or stationary

He added that they also used company cheques to do Pay Cash cheques and withdraw money from the bank without the company management’s consent.
