Death penalty for ‘merciless killing’

The incident occurred at the Galai Oil Palm settlement in West New Britain.

Wesley Yanduo of Yandokum, Kubalia, East Sepik Province, wilfully murdered 14-year-old Naegel John Las on 6th of December 2015.

It was a cold blooded killing, in revenge for the earlier killing of one Isaac Vitalis from section 13 killed by boys from section 16, all from the same Galai Oil Palm settlement.

The 25-year-old father-of-three and the deceased were at a compensation payment gathering when a fight broke out.

Hard labour for senior constable

Police men and women are not above the law and will comply with the laws before they enforce it, says acting judge Nicholas Miviri of the Kimbe National Court, when passing sentence against an officer who abused his authority by discharging a firearm in public in 2016 at Morokea village.

A 41-year-old senior constable, based in West New Britain Province with 22 years’ service, will spend the next two years in hard labour at Lakiemata jail.
