TB drug designed for children launched in Kenya

The new pill is a combination of three drugs used to treat tuberculosis, mixed in the right dosage, and is fruit-flavoured to appeal to children.

Until now, the global TB Alliance says pills designed for adults have been split to get the dosage for children.

Every year, about a million children fall ill with TB, which is the world's deadliest infectious disease.

In 2014, an estimated 140,000 children died of TB, according to global figures from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Kenyan schools torched in protest

The fires, which mostly target dormitories, have destroyed school supplies and personal belongings and forced thousands of students out of school. Other schools have preemptively closed out of fear of more blazes.

While arson attacks in schools are not a new phenomena in Kenya, the escalating rate of the fires has all eyes on the challenges facing Kenya's education system. The people and motives behind the blazes remain unclear, but many suspect students, citing student anger about strict new policies intended to clean up schools after a series of cheating scandals.

Kenya's two new batsmen Rakep Patel (33) and Rushab Patel (95) turned the momentum Kenya's way to put them right back in the game.

Barras all-rounder, John Reva continued his good form, making the breakthrough, dismissing the dangerous Rushab.

At this stage, Kenya was at 5/214 after 45.4 overs.

Barramundis bowl out Kenya for 188

This was thanks largely to a 5 wicket haul from Barras Chad Soper.

Soper finished with 5/27 off his 9 overs.

Kenya batted first and got off to a disastrous start hanging at 3-52 after 13.1 overs.

Some resistance from Kenya's middle order in the likes of Gurdeep Singh (33) helped steady the ship.

Kenya's opener Irfan Karim top scored with 73 runs. This included 7 fours and 1 six.

Soper was assisted in the bowling department by John Reva 2/19 and Norman Vanua 1/34.

Kenya were all bowled out in the 47th over.
