Juffa questions eviction and property transfer

Nothern Governor Juffa is concerned over the number of eviction issues making headlines in Lae, Morobe Province, especially against public servants residing in National Housing Corporation property.

In response to the recent eviction of public servants and their families residing in NHC property on Cassowary Road, he has questioned where public servants living there would go and why they were kicked out of their homes to please commercial interests.

More so, that the NHC property they were removed from, was handed over to KC2 Ltd to settle debts totaling over K1 million.

Juffa welcomes investigation

Juffa said the decision was a step in the right direction for the fight against inefficacy, waste mismanagement and corruption in the Public Sector.

He added that the terms of reference outlined by ICAC will provide valuable insights for the Government to follow.

The Chairman said SPC will be watching the investigation closely and will collaborate if necessary.

However, he stressed that it has a broader focus and will not be involved in nor duplicate the ICAC investigation.

Governor cries foul over PM visit

In a media briefing this afternoon (3rd November), Governor Juffa said that the provincial government was not told of the Prime Minister’s visit and was surprised when they saw his helicopter land on Saturday (31st October).

Juffa says that they were never informed of the PM’s visit which bypassed normal protocol to notify him as the governor of the province so that common courtesy would have been accorded to the PM.
