EMPNG staff back ‘Yumi Klinim Komo’ initiative

With the theme “Yumi Klinim Komo” (Let’s Clean Komo), the cleanup involved over 45 youths from three different church organisations, including the Komo Catholic Church, Evangelical Church of PNG and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

The ExxonMobil PNG HGCP staff joined the youths in this first of its kind cleanup initiative carried out in the Komo area. The cleanup initiative encouraged youths from different denominations to work together, to pick-up rubbish and plant flowers around the Komo Government Station.

EMPNG invites Hides community for a tour

The program, launched in November 2016, complements EMPNG’s Community Development Program by enhancing the community’s understanding of the Plant’s operations.

EMPNG Hides superintendent, Ken Rhyason, said the tours were looking to take away the mystery about what happens inside the fence and to build on EMPNG’s established relationships with Hides communities to create a stronger more connected society.

The sessions are complemented by other discussions around healthy living, education and community development in general.
