Manufacturing policy consultations underway

Officiated by Minister for Commerce and Industry, Henry Amuli, who stated, “This is a very important government document that will shape the future of our manufacturing sector and pave the way for economic growth and prosperity.”

Whilst PNG continues to benefit from the windfalls generated from high commodity prices, the country is also losing out on job opportunities, government tax revenue, and income-earning opportunities which are transferred abroad when raw resources are exported.

Amuli Visits NISIT

He says NISIT’s role and mandate is crucial to drive industrial growth in the country.

Amuli made the statement during his visit with NISIT staff and management recently.

Henry Amuli remains Sohe MP: Court

The decision was officially made by Justice Iova Geita today.   

Justice Iova Geita announced the decision following a recount of all ballot papers, which was ordered by the Court on the 21st of February 2017 as per section 212 (1) (d) of the Organic Law on National and Local Level Government Elections.

The recount commenced on May 21st in Popondetta as the electoral documents were kept there.

These orders were complied with and results were presented to the Court on the 8th of June 2018.

Amuli seeks leave on Sohe petition results

Amuli won the Sohe seat from Delilah Gore in the 2017 general elections.

Gore filed the petition disputing his win and was successful after a trial was conducted in Popondetta, Northern Province.

Justice Iova Geita ordered a recount to take place from May 21 with results to be presented to the Popondetta National Court.

Amuli is now seeking leave of the Supreme Court to review the decision of 23 March.

The application will be moved on 7 May.

Meantime, Gore’s lawyers intend to file an application to dismiss the leave application.

Oro MP’s welcomed back home

The leaders were received at Girua airport by Sohe traditional dancers and led to the State House in Popondetta town.

Also present at the airport to welcome the leaders were members of the disciplinary forces, public servants and other distinguished guests.

It is also a significant occasion as it was the first official engagement that all three Oro MPs were seen together since their election wins.
