Panguma took over from Thomas Potabe.

Announcing the appointment on Tuesday in Hela during the Provincial Executive Council meeting, Governor Philip Undialu said the appointment of Panguma was in the interest of the Hela people.

He said the PEC is confident that Panguma will assist the leaders and deliver to the people of Hela.

Incumbent Deputy Governor, Thomas Potabe, who was also present at first Hela Assembly meeting for 2019, accepted the decision and congratulated the new Deputy.

With poor security coordination, criminals have taken over the roads especially during the transportation of remandees to the courts back and forth from Tari, considering the long distance they have to travel.

Hela governor, Philip Undialu in a conference with the Correctional Services on the reopening of the Hawa CS facility in Hela, says warned opportunists to refrain from such activities.

 “Now it is a signal going to the people of Hela, especially the culprits and law breakers. We will come hard on any perpetrators.”

The committee comprises of Members of Parliament, LLG presidents and representatives from women, churches and business groups.

Governor Philip Undialu led Ministers James Marape and Petrus Thomas to a rousing welcome.

Speaking at the dedication service at Habare SDA Church Hall, Governor Undialu told the public servants and public to forgo their political affiliation and start working with the new administration.
