Dadae retains GG post

Sir Bob received 71 votes and Winnie Kiap received 33 in the second round of voting. Steven Pokawin, the third candidate to nominate as GG, was voted out in the first round.

Member for Kiriwina-Goodenough and Deputy Leader of Opposition, Douglas Tomuriesa was first to congratulate Sir Bob and the two candidates.

“The Governor General must remain impartial at all times,” Tomuriesa said.

“The Governor General is the guardian of the PNG Constitution. His election is an election of confidence and he must serve the interest of this nation.

Sir Bob Dadae executes road contract

The construction of the road includes the pavement rehabilitation and sealing from Maria Junction to Tuku Station covering 30kms, and pavement rehabilitation and sealing from Awi Bridge to Lake Kopiago Station covering 35kms.

The road construction contract is valued at K30, 245, 665. 40, inclusive of GST and contingency sum, and will be wholly funded by the national Government at a duration of 30 months.

The National Executive Council (NEC) has awarded the contract to Tari Pori Development Corporation Limited.

G-G Sends Well Wishes to Queen

On behalf of the People and Government of Papua New Guinea, Sir Bob Dadae conveyed his sincere well wishes for the Queen’s recovery. He said it is heartening to note that Her Majesty has been vaccinated and is confident of her full recovery.

“Our well wishes for a speedy recovery also go out to Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall of the coronavirus and it is our earnest prayer and hope that Her Majesty recovers fully soon,” the Governor General said.

Scout Policy in Schools

Sir Bob said The World organization of the Scout Movement is one of the world’s leading voluntary youth movement.

The Scout Movement in PNG was established 95 years ago and later enacted by the Act of Parliament in 1975.

Sir Bob said the Scout Movement in PNG has helped young men and women develop a positive mindset intellectually, socially and spiritually, since its inception in 1926.

GG empowers Team PNG

Meaning “Never Say Die” or “Never Give Up,” from one of the main dialects in the Morobe province, it was the main message to Team PNG from the Governor General of Papua New Guinea, Sir Bob Dadae.

Sir Bob encouraged athletes to be confident in themselves and not be intimidated by other athletes or teams from other countries.

“Be confident. Believe in yourself. Focus on what you came here to do,” he said.

GG executes Puma, PNG Customs deed of settlement

The deed of settlement is over unpaid goods and services tax for an amount of K40 million.

Attempts to settle the dispute through arbitration proceeding registered by Puma Energy with the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Dispute based in New York were unsuccessful.

Costs associated with an international arbitration was also a factor in the parties now deciding to settle the matter on terms that both parties can agree on.
