Glen Nami

Nami Stresses On Basics

The Eastern Highlander who holds an NRL Level Two Coaching certificate was one of the gentlemen of rugby league in his playing days. Nami  excelled in his rugby league career playing for his beloved Goroka Lahanis  in the Digicel Cup competition and  the PNG Kumuls, before he was appointed assistant coach for SP PNG Hunters in 2019.

While in Port Moresby over the festive period, Nami was invited by the Port Moresby Vipers Academy Team coach, Godfrey Luke to watch his young team play and highlight some of the areas that they needed improvement on with the finals looming.

Nami Remains Passionate

While his passion and love for the game remains strong as ever, Nami had some downtime to first take care of his health and family in the midst of the pandemic crises in the Eastern Highlands.  While in the Port Moresby for medical checkup, the former Goroka Lahanis was kind enough to accept an invite to visit the Vipers Academy training this week.

It has been a tough six months for Nami, having him and his family survived the deadly effects of COVID-19 when the Eastern Highlands was hard hit towards the end of last year.

PNG won through defensive play: Nami

The PNG team’s assistant coach, Glen Nami, said this after the inaugural match against the New South Wales Country League on Sunday.

It was a slow start riddled with errors for the PNG team as they took on the New South Wales Country Under 23 boys.

PNG’s assistant coach Glen Nami attributed their win to good defensive play.
