UOG in need of immediate funds

The University needs K8.5m to cover for students’ meals, transportation cost for teaching practice and for maintenance of facilities that were damaged during the conflict in June.

As per the National Executive Council decision, the total recovery cost for all universities is about K63 million. 

In the breakup, the PNG University of Technology will be given K40m, University of PNG K12m, Office of Higher Education K3m and UOG K8.

So far, UPNG has received K1m and Unitech will be presented K1m on Wednesday.

Exploring Pacific funding mechanism option to turn the tide on NCDs

In this regard, the Pacific Island countries and territories at the summit have agreed to explore options to establish greater synergies between funding sources.

A commitment was also made regarding the introduction of national legislation to ensure all Pacific Island countries and territories meet or exceed the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control taxation target and help achieve a Tobacco Free Pacific by 2025.
