Hekari and Laiwaden in lead

President of the Football Federation of PNG, John Kapi Natto, said he was impressed with the talent on show, especially from the new teams from rural areas.

He said the competition is heading towards the end of round one.

Football federation spreading its reach

After the recent visit to the New Guinea Islands, President of the FFPNG, John Kapi Natto, said next will be visits to the Highlands region and then to Wewak, Vanimo, New Ireland, Popondetta and Tabubil.

“FFPNG’s vision is to establish Member Associations and create products. From the 12 Members, we want to increase to 40 and then to 50 Members and ensure that they are all recognized and are functioning around the country,” said Kapi Natto.

Seven-a-side tournament launched by Football Federation of PNG

According to President, John Kapi Natto the competition is more of a pre-season to gather interest from teams for the upcoming National Premier League competition.

To be spearheaded ahead by the Northern and Southern Conference, the tournament will run from March 17-18.

The Northern Conference will host their matches in Lae, while matches for the Southern Conference will be played in Port Moresby.

Kapi Natto said this is the first step forward for the newly established federation to run its competition for the 12 soccer affiliates in the country.
