EU-STREIT PNG Support sustainable Cocoa Business Project

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations under the EU-STREIT PNG Programme, are supporting this initiative by Wosera High School, in engaging students and surrounding communities in sustainable cocoa value chain development.

Following appraisal visits and business plan review, the Programme supported the school’s newly initiated cocoa project through the provision of cocoa husbandry tools and materials, including polybags, shades cloths, pole pruners, wheelbarrows, pruning saws, shovels, tie wires, watering cans, measuring tapes, and budding tapes.

His statement comes ahead of the upcoming Asia and the Pacific Regional Conference (#APRC36), scheduled to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from the 08th-11th March, 2022.

Greenhouse gas estimations workshop underway

The workshop is facilitated by the Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The Government of PNG, through CCDA in partnership with the FAO, is working to complete a quality assurance process of the GHG estimations from the Agriculture, Forest and Other Land Uses (AFOLU) sector to form a National GHG Inventory for PNG.

The workshop is attended by officers from the agriculture and land-use sector. This sector is a key source of greenhouse gas emissions for PNG.

REDD+ workshop underway in Port Moresby

The workshop is facilitated by the Climate Change Development Authority in partnership with United Nations-REDD Programme, PNG Forest Authority (PNGFA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

This is the final validated workshop which aims to present the results on PNG's FRL assessment and documentation of its overall submission content, to be validated by all relevant stakeholders.

Participants include non-government organisations, universities and research institutions, community leaders, private sectors and development partners.
