1RPIR holds Communications training

The training practical carried out today is part and parcel of the battalion preparing for their security operations come the main leaders week for APEC this November.

The communication display for senior officers was part of the culmination of a weeklong Command, Control, Communications and Coordination or C4 training.

Soldiers withdraw from Highlands region

They were part of the 140 soldiers from the Alpha and Delta Company deployed to the earthquake stricken provinces in the Highlands Region following the 7.5 magnitude earthquake in February this year.

They were heavily involved in security operations after reports of tribal fighting and illegal roadblocks surfaced, hindering relief efforts from reaching the affected people, especially in Hela and Southern Highlands, who were hit the hardest.

At the airport, the soldiers briefly said the earthquake relief efforts are winding down, hence their withdrawal.

1RPIR unveils motto, values

The soldiers were reminded by their commanding officer to be a reflection of these values.

Soldiers of the First Royal Pacific Islands Regiment gathered at the entrance of Taurama Barracks where the motto and values have been put on signboards.

PNGDF Chief of Force Preparation, Colonel Siale Diro, and Lalokau FM’s Garry Tauna unveiled the motto and the values in front of the soldiers.

Tauna’s involvement in the program was a sign of respect to the Motu-Koitabu people whose land the barracks sits on.

He was also instrumental in translating the motto.
