Re-elected ELCPNG executives challenged

Pastor and missionary teacher from the Philippines Lutheran Church, Reverend Edwin Huevos, delivered this message to the church executives during their installation at Ogelbeng Seminary in Mt. Hagen, Western Highlands Province, on Sunday, March 17.

ELC Synod Commences

The event began with a procession of marching, singing and dancing around the outdoor stadium by all 17 Districts of the Church.  

For the first time in the history of the church, the Synod which is the highest decision body of the Church is being held in the city. 

The event is hosted by the Papuan Region and will be held at the Sir John Guise stadium, Port Moresby from January 9th-15th. 

ELC PNG has over 1.5 million followers and 17 districts. 

Head Bishop of the Church, Reverend Dr. Jack Urame will officiate the opening of the Synod.

ELCPNG Preps For 33rd Synod

Head Bishop, Reverend Dr Jack Urame, said the 2022 synod will be hosted by the Papua district in Port Moresby, and the 33rd Synod Central Committee is working hard to ensure a successful week-long event.

When speaking to media at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG headquarters at Ampo, Lae, Reverend Dr Urame said they are excited and looking forward to the 33rd synod, which will be held from January 9th to 15th.

ELC Hagen launches reformation celebrations

The launching was held at the Queen’s Park Oval.

The big day falls on the 31st of October and thousands of Lutheran members are expected to attend; both within Western Highlands, Jiwaka and other highlands provinces.

Lutheran Renewal, Lutheran Reform and other Christian denominations are expected to join in the observance of Reformation Day as well.

Governor-General Sir Bob Dadai, Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti and other Members of Parliament are also expected to attend.

 

​Femili PNG will open Lae office

Newcrest made a generous donation of K200,000 to Femili PNG in March 2017 which was used to renovate the office space.

Newcrest executive general manager of Public Affairs and Social Performance, Ian Kemish, said: ‘’Newcrest is delighted to make a practical contribution to Femili PNG’s critical Lae service in support of the victims of family violence and abuse.
