Mixed reactions over tourists’ visit

The Costa Atlantica left Guangzhou Province, China, on November 27, 2016. It was on a ‘47 Half World Cruise Tour’, with its first PNG port of entry being Alotau for a 14-hour stopover on January 1, 2017.

Tour operator Egwalau Tours and Events’ major concern was that the ship arrived on Milne Bay shores on a public holiday.

Egwalau Tours is based in Alotau and was established in 2014.

The company is fully owned by two Milne Bay women, Maxine Nadile and Elaine Bate, and specialises in providing tours, event management and shore excursions.

When cruise ships arrive in Alotau, Egwalau Tours organises four tours for the tourists, the Battle of Milne Bay, Alotau historical tour, Alotau Festival and Ahioma culture tour.

The festival is a unique mini cultural event specifically hosted for cruise ships.

Egwalau Tours reports recent influx of cruise ships

Egwalau Tours is based in Alotau and was established in 2014, fully owned by two Milne Bay women and specialises in providing tours, event management and shore excursions.

Egwalau Tours director Elaine Bate said currently their main focus is on cruise ships that arrive in Alotau including Princess (Carnival Australia) cruise ships.

Carnival Australia cruise ship is part of the Carnival Corporation that represents one of the worlds’ popular cruise brands.
