Two detained for armed robbery in Eastern Highlands

Police reports from Goroka said these two suspects were part of seven suspects who robbed a PMV bus with bush knives at Komiufa village, near Goroka.

It was alleged that the suspects in the pretext of passengers boarded the PMV and whilst getting off at the village, held up the crew and made off with the day's takings.

Police said the owner and relatives were able to apprehend two suspects while the rest are at large.

EHP police urge victims to report clearly

This is due to the increase of police brutality complaints that have been reported to the Goroka Police Station over the past week on a daily basis.

Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Alex N’Drasal says the public complainants must be accurate instead of just providing general statements for police to work with.

The people of Eastern Highlands have been urged to make sure that if they are to lay any more complaints, they have to make sure that they have accurate information of the location, the time of incident including the police vehicle.

Man finds mutilated body parts in bag

Eastern Highlands police say a man, who was walking towards the Bihute Correctional Institute, stumbled upon the bag which was tightly tied at the top.

The stench led him towards the bag that when he attempted to open it, he caught sight of body parts cut up to fitted into the bag.

The police were alerted and a CID homicide team began investigations, which led to the arrest of a man.

Investigations are still continuing as more suspects are yet to be turned in by the people living in the area.
