Authority issues notice to Chinese clothing brand

In a statement, ENBTA condemned the use of the Tolai Tubuan (Tumbuan) images on social media to promote its brand.

“The Tumbuan Society is a very sacred and respected culture in our province,” said ENBTA.

“What has transpired over the last few days has demeaned the Tumbuan Society and outright disrespect of our culture, values and traditions, irrespective of the circumstances entered into by the custodians of the particular Tumbuan.

ENB authority keen to support ‘Survivor’ productions

The office believes Survivor is massive in terms of the exposure for the province as well as the country and has expressed its support.

“We are excited about bringing Survivor here and we will do everything to ensure that nothing stands in the way of allowing Survivor to run their programs,” CEO Gard M Renson told Loop PNG.

ENBTA has reached common grounds in its strive to lock arrangements for Survivor to be in Kokopo, which will be the preferred base.

ENB business houses urged to support Mask Festival

A staff of the Tourism Authority in East New Britain Province (ENBP), Emma Robinson, told Loop PNG: “When it all started, the National Cultural Commission was responsible for funding the event.”

As the name implies, the event aims to bring all the different masks of the different provinces of Papua New Guinea together in one place.

The National Mask Festival comes to a close

At around 5.03pm, the big men from the different districts of East New Britain gathered around to watch as a man danced around in circles with a spear in hand. This dancer was beckoning his onlookers to come and claim the spear. He wanted to see which of the men watching would be brave enough to do so.

“This ritual is important as it determines which district will be hosting the 2017 National Mask Festival, depending on who claims the spear and on behalf of which district,” said a member of the organising committee.
