Dr. Vele Pat Ila’ava

Dr. Ila’ava and his lawyers appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Dessie Magaru this afternoon during a Committal Court sitting where his application for bail was granted.

One of his two guarantors is Kerema open MP Richard Mendani. The two guarantors will ensure Dr. Ila’ava appears before court for all his mention dates.

He will return to court next month.  

Dr. Vele Pat Ila’ava, aged 56 of Viriolo village, Abau district, Central Province, was arrested on 26 February 2018 in Port Moresby.

He was interviewed and charged with 11 counts of abuse of office and 9 counts of official corruption resulting in the misappropriation of more than K1.9 million, the property of Independent State of Papua New Guinea.
