Students successfully end internship program

Eighteen students from the University of Papua New Guinea, three from Port Moresby Technical College, and one student from IEA College of TAFE had gone through a professional learning experience that offered meaningful, practical work related to the student's field of study, vital for their future endeavours.

Digicel continues to improve connectivity in Tonga

The service was restored following the set-up of a satellite link which had capacity limitations.

Digicel Regional CEO, Shally Jannif, said; “As soon as the link was opened up and international calls got restored last night, we saw an influx of callers as there were up to 200 simultaneous calls. We know that a lot of people tried to call their loved ones in Tonga but were having issues with connection. Today, our technical team did further upgrades on the link and we are pleased to announce that now 400 calls can be done at a time.”

A tsunami has hit Tonga’s largest island Tongatapu, as a result, Digicel customers in the Kingdom of Tonga have experienced disruption in their mobile service. Digicel’s domestic mobile towers are in operation across Tongatapu.

Digicel Vaccinates Staff

Digicel Senior Vice President Lorna McPherson said that vaccinations are not mandatory, but the company is encouraging people to take the vaccine by explaining the benefits of the vaccine to ensure that staff are comfortable enough to take the vaccine.

She also added that it is important that communications stay up in the time of COVID as it is a necessity for the country.

Digicel sets the record straight

Following overwhelming support from our debtholders for these proposals, we are now progressing with the required administrative processes.

As such, we announced details of a proposed Scheme of Arrangement in the Bermudian Courts in connection with Digicel Group One Limited, which is purely an intermediate financing holding company.

This Scheme has the support of over 97% of its bondholders and also involves the appointment of light touch joint provisional liquidators to oversee the implementation of the Scheme.

The Toll Free number was launched by Digicel CEO Collin Stone and acting Secretary for Health Dr Paison Dakulala in Port Moresby today.

Dr Dakulala thanked Digicel for the initiative in coming on board to disseminate information on the COVID 19 through its various media platforms.
