Yamano Cup scout potential players

Thirty-six (36) teams within the Yamano tribe in Ambunti participated in the competition – 20 teams in men’s soccer and 16 teams for women’s volleyball. The competition took place between 5th and 12th January.

The games were played at the Kumbawei Sports grounds.

President of Yamano Sports Association Solomon Aplas said the games ended on a high note with potential players selected to participate in the District this September.

NICTA Renews Digicel Operating Licenses

Minister for Information, Communications & Technology (ICT) Timothy Masiu presented the licenses to Digicel PNG CEO, Colin Stone, in Port Moresby today.

The renewed ICT operator licenses are viable for the next 15 years. The two licenses granted to Digicel PNG are the gateway service license and individual network license.

Minister Masiu used the ceremony to promote the Marape-Basil Government’s position based on the ‘Take Back PNG’ intent.

He emphasized that the Take Back slogan is about national content and participation.

New Men of Honour judges announced

It recognises ordinary men who are doing extraordinary things to alleviate suffering in their communities.

Each year six awards are given during the Men of Honour Awards Dinner Night.

Three vibrant leaders have joined the dynamic six-member independent panel of judges to select finalists for Season 5 of the Men of Honour Awards.

These three new judges are:

SIM registration deadline looming

This was the case with the Digicel SIM registration team, led by Darren Lepilis, the retail executive.

Lepilis and the team have a deadline to meet.

He said as per the directive from the National Information & Communications Technology Authority (NICTA), all SIM cards have to be registered by the end of the year. Failure to do so will result in the SIM card being deactivated.

His team has been out in full force since yesterday, setting up in communities, with the help of volunteers.
