PNG’s ultimate Khax to be revealed this Sunday on TVWAN Life

The locally-produced Digicel Play TV show is a first of its kind talent show profiling Papua New Guinea’s most talented, unique and brightest entertainers.

The winner of the show will walk away with K20, 000, second place will receive K10,000 and a K5,000 prize will go to the third placed act.

After two exciting semi-final rounds, six of the most talented acts have made it into the inaugural grand finale on Sunday night. The top six acts that will battle it out in front of the judges to be crowned PNG’s ultimate khax include:

Second Yu Em Khax semi-final set to wow viewers this Sunday

The locally-produced TV show is a first of its kind talent show profiling Papua New Guinea’s most talented, unique and brightest entertainers.

Viewers were treated to an enthralling 90-minute episode, with nine of the final 18 contestants trying their best to impress the judges to make it to the show’s grand final on Saturday 28 January.

Local artists to shine in Yu Em Khax first semi-finals

Live auditions for the show took place around the country in November and December, 2016 and saw hundreds of people turn up to try out for a spot on the coveted show. 

Six singers, four dancers, three magicians, three comedians, one beat box group and one theatrical artist impressed the judges in Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen and Kokopo made it through to the televised heats late last year.

During these two years, TVWAN has successfully become the leader in media entertainment in Papua New Guinea, locally producing more than 700 hours of content made up of over 5,000 local news stories, and broadcasting more than 100 hours of live rugby and 50 hours of drama every month. 

Digicel Play CEO Nico Meyer said he was incredibly proud of what TVWAN has achieved since its inception two years ago.

“We set out to become the best TV network in PNG and what we have been able to accomplish at TVWAN in such a short time is amazing,” he said.

Yu Em Khax talent show heads for Mt Hagen

The newest show to be produced out of Digicel Play’s production studio in Gordon, Yu Em Khax is a new reality television show creating exciting opportunities for the most talented and unique entertainers in the country.

Yu Em Khax premiered on TVWAN Life on Saturday 5 November and has been met with great enthusiasm from Digicel Play subscribers ever since. With the build-up of great performances from the Lae auditions, the hype has been set for the other locations to live up to. Lae has set the pace, and Hagen will be the next to bring their A game.

PNG’s hottest show audition set for Lae

While the first episode aired for the first time last week, talented people all across the country still have time to audition for their chance to become PNG’s next household name.

Port Moresby auditions showcased a diverse and unique pool of talents that included a comedian, magician, singer and a wild card, setting the pace for the rest of the performances to follow. 

Lae will be the next location for budding magicians, singers, dancers and comedians to impress the judges with their performances in each of their respective act categories.

POM children enjoy first movie outing

The 106 students and teachers from Kopkop College Early Childhood Learning Centre were treated to a premiere screening of Warner Animation Group’s new 3D computer-animated film Storks. The adventure comedy film is about storks delivering babies to families.

The movie event, which included a ticket, popcorn and drink combo deal for every participant, was valued at K800 and hosted in conjunction with Digicel Play’s children’s channel Boomerang, which is a Warner-affiliated channel.
