Celebrated on the 8th of September annually, International Literacy Day has been celebrated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) since 1967 to raise awareness on the importance of literacy in building a more literate and sustainable society.

This partnership will enable St. John Ambulance to expand its rural ambulance network to Milne Bay Province in partnership with the Provincial Health Authority through the purchase of a land and sea ambulance.

The main objective is to improve pre-hospital services by providing quality emergency response with the help of the ambulances and increasing the number of patients retrieved and transferred to the hospital.

The staff grants program is part of the Foundation’s Staff Engagement Program called ‘Live Love Learn’. The Program encourages Digicel Staff to be agents of change in their communities by Living out the company’s values, Loving the work they do and Learning new skills through volunteering.
