Conn pays tribute to McLay

Speaking to Loop PNG from Alotau, he said: “Alan was a stalwart for the business community in Lae, well-respected and constant in everything.”

Conn relayed that McLay’s heart was always with the people of Morobe that there was no doubt the people of Morobe will miss him.

Referring back to conversations with McLay, Conn said he had been very critical of the fact that there was more development happening in Port Moresby in comparison to Lae.

Two more Meri Seif buses

NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, made the presentation yesterday to Ginigoada Chairman, David Conn, on behalf of NCDC.

Governor Parkop said the Meri Seif Bus program has been a success and they earlier promised to the foundation both buses to continue the program.

Parkop said personally, he did not agree with having only women buses, likening it to segregation. However, he said the attitude of men and youths had to change.

Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce CEO, David Conn, tells Loop PNG that one element they are looking at is how other provinces could feed the predicted growth of the capital city.

He said our closest neighbours have developed on the back of such industries and investing in PNG could also develop our own as well as lessen our dependence on imports.

Chamber of commerce applauds Somare’s stability

Representing the business community at the farewell program of Sir Michael was the Chief Executive Officer of Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce, David Conn.

Addressing the founding father, Conn said “you brought stability”.

“We don’t need a government that flip flops on policy. We don’t need a government that makes us feel that they are hostile to us,” he said.

Conn stated that in the last 12 years of Sir Michael’s term, PNG saw sustained growth in the economy and the nation’s GDP.

McLay blasts Agriculture Minister

In a statement, McLay said the racial undertones are very serious and show that the Minister will resort to any measure to prove a point.

He said the Minister needs a lesson on how a Chamber of Commerce operates.

“The movement is to benefit all its members so they can operate in a good commercial environment, free from as much political interference and administrative bureaucracy as possible.

“PNG grown vegetables is a great idea and is worth support from all corners of our society.
