Cancer Foundation launches Pink Ribbon lunch

In a statement, the PNGCF says it will focus on creating awareness on cancers that affect women in PNG through the Pinktober- Womens Cancer Awareness Month campaign.

This will run through the month of October.

PNGCF CEO, Dadi Toka Jnr in his remarks during the launch, thanked sponsors for the launch of the Pink Ribbon Lunch for 2017.

He said that with the current statistic from the PNG Institution of Medical Research stating that two women die every day from cervical cancer. This is a vital campaign.”

Half a million raised from HB appeal

The appeal needs K2m more in order to reach the set target of K2.5 million.

This amount is to go towards rebuilding the houses and setting the families up with basic water and power needs.

While there is no set time frame to reach this target amount, co-chair of the appeal committee, Dadi Toka Jnr, says the main goal is to move families back into their homes.

“But it’s not all about the money,” says Toka Jnr.

Many organisations have visited the village with donations in kind, including food, water, generator sets, and many more.

New judges for new MoH categories

This was announced yesterday by Digicel PNG Foundation Board chairman, Douveri Henao, in a media press conference in Port Moresby.

In the Men of Honor Cycle, two new categories were also launched, which saw two outstanding Papua New Guineans join the distinguished panel of judges.

The two new judges are Professor Betty Lovai, who will be judging the Allen Mahuru Posthumous Service Award and Dadi Toka Jnr, who will be judging the Young Men of Honor category.

Two days to go before Daffodil cup challenge

The Challenge, sponsored by Oil Search, is now into its 14th consecutive year and is always a major fundraiser within Daffodil Month, the PNGCF's August campaign.

The PNGCF and Oil Search invites their valuable supporters to join the Golf Challenge and help raise as much funds as possible. This is to assist the PNGCF conduct provincial ‘free’ mouth and breast cancer screening programs at six locations across PNG.

This week the PNG Hunters team kindly donated a signed PNG Hunters training shirt as an auction item.
