Sikh pilgrims in deadly Pakistan train crash

The crash, involving a Karachi-Lahore express train, happened on a level crossing near Sheikhupura, in Punjab province, police said.

Most of the dead are said to be from one family, on their way home from Nankana, one of the Sikh religion's main sites. Ten others were hurt.

There are not thought to be any train passengers among the casualties.

The accident comes after a string of recent fatal accidents on Pakistan's railways.

More than 70 people died when a Karachi-Rawalpindi train caught fire during its journey in November last year.

The airline also confirmed that the United States Divers have completed an inspection inside the aircraft which landed short of Chuuk International Airport.

Air Niugini in a statement said the US divers have confirmed that all the passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft.

This has been also confirmed by other passengers that the unaccounted person had been safely evacuated from the aircraft and was seen in one of the local dinghies that were assisting with transporting the passengers and crew to the shore.

Reckless driving leads to head-on collision

A head-on collision between two 25-seaters occurred at Mahuru yesterday, and at least 5 people were injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident, which occurred at around 1.53pm, was caused by a speeding bus 10 that was heading towards Sabama.

15-year-old Butubu Nigani was crossing the road when the two buses collided right in front of her.

She said the white and green bus heading towards Sabama tried to overtake a vehicle in front of it when it blindly crashed into another bus 10 PMV in the oncoming lane.

Canada hockey team crash: 'Entire country in shock'

There was an outpouring of grief across Canada at news of the collision between a bus carrying a junior ice hockey team and a semi-trailer.

The Humboldt Broncos team, which has members aged between 16 and 21, were en route on Friday to a play-off game.

At least 15 people have been confirmed dead in the crash.

Details have been slow to trickle out in the wake of the tragedy, and the identities of the deceased have not yet been released by authorities.

Narrow escape for trio

The incident happened in the early hours of Christmas Eve, say the guards on duty.

They claim it was probably after a heavy night of partying, as the driver (a man) and two passengers (another man and a woman), were heavily intoxicated.

According to the stadium guards, the car – a small grey Toyota Grande – drove out of the intersection from Vulupindi Haus.

And instead of turning right towards the traffic lights, drove straight towards the opposite side of the road.

Harry Potter actor in intensive care

The 54-year-old, who played the owner of the Leaky Cauldron in the film, suffered a broken neck and a punctured lung.

He also has 15 broken ribs, breaks in his right leg and fractured breastbones.

His wife Laura posted a picture of him in a hospital bed on Facebook.

"This is Laura here," she wrote. "Now that his family have been informed, Jim has asked me to let you all know that he was involved in a serious car accident yesterday, a head-on collision.

Pursued stolen vehicle in Gerehu ends in disaster

The trio stole a Toyota Camry at Gerehu shopping centre and sped off towards Nine-Mile along the newly constructed freeway road.

Gerehu police chased them towards the Tasion Barracks and were intercepted by a police mobile unit l driving back from Nine-Mile towards Gerehu.

The vehicle which was travelling at high –speed then drove into an oncoming vehicle which caused a major accident. The driver of the high-speed car sustained head injuries, while trying to jump of the vehicle.

Police  at the scene of the accident  are continue further investigations.

Air Crash Investigation Commission says the incident occurred on July 22nd.

According to AIC B-407 registered P2-HC had just completed his delivery via longline and was about to leave for Tabubil when his engine experienced loss of power causing it to crash.

Military plane crashes in Arizona; pilot's condition unknown

An Arizona Air National Guard statement says the pilot flying with the 162nd Wing Arizona Air National Guard was the only person aboard when the plane went down during a Wednesday night training mission.

Further details about the pilot weren't released early Thursday, but rescuers were sent to the crash site 5 miles east of Douglas Municipal Airport.

Cochise County sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas tells the Arizona Daily Star that the plane ruptured a gas line and sparked a fire. Once the flames are extinguished, officials will assess the damage.
