Rural areas at risk of HIV spreading

This is one of the key findings in the 2015 Inquiry Report on the status of HIV/AIDS in Papua New Guinea.

It was revealed by West New Britain Governor and Chairman of the Special Parliamentary Committee on HIV/AIDS Advocacy, Sasindran Muthuvel, in Parliament yesterday.

“HIV/AIDS fury is far reaching and rampant in the remote rural communities while many people lack knowledge and risks of how HIV/AIDS is spreading and blamed AIDS related deaths to sorcery.

Committee to discuss Agiru’s funeral programme

The committee spokesperson told Loop PNG this morning that a formal programme of his funeral services and burial will be made known today after their discussion.

Meantime, the body remains a property of the State.

Late Aigiru died of a suspected heart attack yesterday morning.

According to his consulting doctor at the Pacific International Hospital Dr Paul Mondia, the politician was battling diabetes which he suspected led to further complications inducing a heart attack.

The body is currently at the Erima Funeral Home in Port Moresby.
