Kedi Ilimbit appointed OTML CEO

Ilimbit was selected after a rigorous evaluation of candidates and an international search campaign. Previously, he worked at OTML from 1995 to 2004 and held various positions, starting as a graduate mechanical engineer.

After leaving OTML, he worked in senior and managerial positions at several mines in Australia. Ilimbit returned to OTML in 2015 and has since worked in Mine Maintenance, Processing, Asset Management, and Operations & Community Support, holding the position of Acting CEO currently.

Provinces need procurement committees: NPC

The National Procurement Commission (NPC) chief executive officer, Simon Bole, said this when commending the Western Highlands Provincial Government for swearing in their Provincial Procurement Board last week.

He called on all provincial administrators and chairmen of DDAs that have yet to establish their procurement committees, to immediately write to the NPC to facilitate their establishment.

Bringing jobs back to PNG: Kina Bank

Chief Executive Officer Greg Pawson said at a customer function recently in Port Moresby that the Bank was engaged in a major program of transformation that will see jobs created in the fields of operations, technology, credit and risk.

“Since we announced the acquisition of ANZ PNG’s Retail, Commercial and SME business, we have been expanding our operations. We’ve been building out our back-office functions to support the new products and services we will introduce throughout the year – from credit cards to mobile payment options.

Over 200 incidents in less than 2 weeks

Between 17 December and 29 December, 2018, St John Ambulance crews have attended to over 288 incidents in Port Moresby and Central Province; 177 were regarded as serious emergencies.

Commissioner Matthew Cannon, Chief Executive Officer of St John Ambulance, said their specialist team of paramedics and doctors have also assisted with five air medical evacuations missions.

NEC to discuss APEC public holidays

Amongst the hectic schedule of the Summit, there will be several periods in November where movement will be restricted due to high level security movements of leaders and delegations while the 21 economy leaders are attending the APEC Leaders’ Summit.

The days of high activity are from the 15th to 18th November, with 15th and 16th November being considered as public holidays. 

SHP health authority aims to be reliable

SHPHA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Joseph Birisi, said his health authority would like to lead in information technology to run its health sector conveniently.

Technologies help save time and resources to achieve results and the hospital chief is keen on adapting it into his health system.

“Technology strengthening and system fixing is very important to run effective health systems in the province,” Dr Birisi said.
