CEFI launches Graduate Development Program

The CEFI Graduate Development Program (GDP) offers graduates and soon to be graduates prospective opportunities to gain relevant experience in a range of disciplines that contribute to greater financial inclusivity for Papua New Guinea.

The cross-functional development program will provide graduates exposure to different units and disciplines in financial inclusion coordination, financial inclusion training, communications and stakeholder mobilisation, finance and administration and special projects.

CEFI and FPDA sign partnership

This will be executed under the ‘Market for Village Farmers’ (MVF) project worth K127 million (US$38 m).

The partnership, in conjunction with the PNG Government was signed on June 5th in Port Moresby.

According to CEFI farmers find challenging the transition from semi-subsistence farming to a market-oriented agriculture business.

And with limited financial services and products and poor money management skills, it can be overwhelming for farmers to sustain and grow their business.

SME loan product guide launched

The booklet is a one-stop reference guide with detailed information on loan products available at licensed banking institutions, including client requirements and contact details of the institutions. The guide will assist individuals and business to access appropriate loans to start, develop and expand their businesses.

Following the launching of the Second National Financial Inclusion Strategy 2016 – 2020 yesterday, Bank of PNG Governor, Loi Bankani, said SMEC was an important stakeholder in the financial inclusion exercise and have been considered in the plan.

He said it was a Government priority to boost the SME sector in PNG and has been identified as a key element of their strategies.

The NFIS 2016- 2020 identifies SME Finance as a ‘Strategic Objective’ number six with an access to and usage of finance SME’s.
