Use Media for Social Change

The seminar was facilitated by the Social Communications Commission of CBCPNGSI with the theme: ‘Hope Amid COVID-19’.

The students were from De La Salle Secondary School, Marianville Secondary School, La Salle Technical College, Limana Vocational Centre, Don Bosco Technological Institute, and St Charles Lwanga Secondary School.

The seminar highlighted specific aspects of print media ranging from creating posters with a message, logo, photographs of inspiration, warm-up exercises, interactive game sessions, meditative and prayer moments.

International Short Film Festival 2020

The local short films viewed were 6 minute videos created by students to promote the message of the theme, Keep it Clean. Go Green. 

Media students from Catholic Agency schools produced 6 minute videos depicting messages around the theme, focusing on the Environment, Laudato Si and Covid-19.  There were certificates given as well as prices for the best film. This year’s best film award was given to De La Sale Secondary school, Bomana.

First meet for religious education coordinators

The updating, organised by the Catholic Religious Education Coordinator Sr. Imelda Mission, OND, aimed to give formation, support and strength to the RECs as they fulfill the mission entrusted to them, as mandated by the Archdiocese, which is teaching religion to their pupils and students.   

Twenty-three participants from 16 different Catholic agency run schools attended the updating, some coming from as far as the Rigo district of Central Province.

The aim of the conference was to orientate head teachers about the pastoral theme of the archdiocese of Port Moresby and to give them some relevant information with regards to the current issues affecting the schools.
