‘Might make move early’: Storm eyeing Origin star ‘very closely’ as Bellamy admits they need help

Melbourne lost Brandon Smith, Christian Welch and George Jennings during their gutsy win over the Tigers on Saturday. Smith suffered a broken hand in the opening minute and will undergo surgery, while Welch and Jennings suffered a ruptured Achilles and ACL respectively.

There’s been rumours linking off-contract Dragons star Tariq Sims to the Storm and Storm coach Craig Bellamy didn’t completely shut down that talk when asked about it after the game.

Now News Corp’s Phil Rothfield is reporting a Sims switch to Melbourne could happen sooner than anticipated.

Titans star cleared after All Stars battering; question mark over Cleary return — Casualty Ward

CLEARY YET TO START CONTACT WORK

After having an off-season shoulder surgery to repair a dislocation and labral tear, Nathan Cleary is aiming for a Round 1 return.

The superstar halfback suffered the injury in game two of NSW’s triumphant Origin series and played the rest of the season nursing his shoulder.

Incredibly, Cleary led his side to a premiership and is now in the process of recovering from surgery.

Panthers lose To’o in double blow as Chooks duo sent for surgery: Casualty Ward

To’o will be forced to undergo surgery, but is hopeful of being back for week one of the finals.

The blows couldn’t come at a worse time for the Panthers, who face the Storm on Saturday, with Isaah Yeo (concussion) and Nathan Cleary (shoulder) not expected to play.

Api Koroisau is suspended and James Fisher-Harris has returned to Sydney to be with his partner prior to the arrival of their child.

Unlucky Rooster Billy Smith will miss the rest of the season after suffering a lisfranc injury to his foot during his side’s win over the Knights last weekend.

Casualty Ward: Cleary no chance; Sharks sweat on Johnson

There was hope Cleary could make a return from his shoulder complaint suffered in Origin II but fullback Dylan Edwards dismissed the talk on Monday.

"He's not a chance this week, so we'll be without him this week but he's running well and progressing through his rehab stages," Edwards said.

The Panthers are bracing for the possibility of being without co-captain Isaah Yeo (concussion) and Tyrone May (leg) for the clash while James Fisher-Harris (family reasons) and Api Koroisau are already confirmed as key omissions.

Casualty Ward: Suaalii faces surgery; Lui sidelined

Suaalii's maiden NRL campaign will be limited to five first grade games as he prepares for a corrective operation later this week.

The Raiders have ruled out Dunamis Lui for at least a fortnight due to a calf injury.

Lui suffered a calf strain during the side's win over Manly last week but the former Maroons representative isn't expected to be out for much longer than three weeks.
