Fundraising coordinator of “Walk the Talk Against Cancer”, Ms. Barbra Toiya, thanked Goroka Catholic Diocese and all volunteers including medical professionals who have spear headed this initiative from their heart.

“Our women are dying and we cannot wait for the government to keep on promising us services. It is time for every able professional in Papua New Guinea to contribute to this epidemic. It could be your mother or sister next,” Toiya said.

Black women are dying from cervical cancer at a rate 77% higher than previously thought, and white women are dying at a rate 47% higher, according to a study published in the journal Cancer on Monday.

The study found that previous estimates of cervical cancer death rates didn't account for women who had their cervixes removed in hysterectomy procedures, which eliminates the risk of developing the cancer.

"Had I not seen that photo, I would have assumed that it was an indentation from the underwire of my bra," Chieze, 38, a nursing student at West Hills College in Lemoore, California, told CNN.

Within five days of noticing the indentation, she was told she likely had breast cancer. A month later, doctors told her it was stage IV; the cancer had metastasized outside the breast.

"I knew all about self exams," Chieze wrote on Facebook last week, "but a picture of what to look for keyed me into knowing I had a terminal disease."

The hazelnut and chocolate spread was being pulled from shelves after the study.

It said palm oil was more likely to contain carcinogenic agents compared to other vegetable oils.

Ferrero say switching ingredients would result in an inferior spread which wouldn't be as smooth.

The report for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) came out last May.

It said palm oil contains particularly high levels of contaminants, when heated about 200 degrees Celcius.

Tumours can "seed" themselves elsewhere in the body and this process is behind 90% of cancer deaths.

The mouse study, published in Nature, showed altering the immune system slowed the spread of skin cancers to the lungs.

Cancer Research UK said the early work gave new insight into how tumours spread and may lead to new treatments.

The spread of cancer - known as metastasis - is a fight between a rapidly mutating cancer and the rest of the body.

The team at the Sanger Institute in Cambridge was trying to figure out what affected tumour spread in the body.

Consuming more than four portions a week is a risk, suggests the study of nearly 1,000 French people, published in the journal Thorax.

The researchers believe it could be a preservative called nitrite used in meats such as sausages, salami and ham that aggravates the airways.

But experts say the link has not been proved and more investigations are needed.
