Raiders v Eels: Hopoate recalled; Arthur in for Moses

The 2022 grand finalists – who finished last year's regular season with 16 wins – have struggled for consistency through the opening three months of the new campaign, having recorded back-to-back wins just once all year.

Their defeat to the Titans was another case of what could have been with errors opening the door for Gold Coast to hang on for a 26-24 win – a loss compounded by a head knock to star halfback Mitchell Moses which will rule him out of this week's clash due to the mandatory 11-day protocols.

Points aplenty as Raiders edge past Bulldogs

Tries from Jordan Rapana early in each half helped the Raiders, while lock Corey Horsburgh put in another powerful performance which included 174 run metres and four tackle breaks.

Up by 10 with four minutes to play, the Raiders had to endure a nervous finish when the Bulldogs were awarded a penalty try after Hayze Perham was tackled off the ball metres from the line, but held on to secure their fourth win in a row.

The first half saw action aplenty at both ends, with seven tries scored in an opening 40 minutes in which the Raiders took a 22-18 lead into the sheds.

Bulldogs v Raiders: Kiraz still a chance; Savage returns

The Raiders are on a roll after defeating the Dolphins in dramatic fashion in Wagga Wagga with halfback Jamal Fogarty kicking the first field goal of his career.

Ricky Stuart's side have now strung three straight wins together and will be a tough side to face with the club showing its resilience and character last week, orchestrating a tough win in the wake of five-eighth Jack Wighton signing with South Sydney.

Stuart breaks down over Wighton departure

At the full-time siren, Wighton breaks down in tears; it will be goodbye to his beloved Canberra Raiders whom he has spent more than a decade playing for.

The Raiders Five-Eight, earlier in the week, signed a four-year contract with South Sydney Rabbitohs in a quest for a premiership ring before he takes off his boots.

When news broke out that Wighton was leaving for the Bunnies, fans pointed to Coach Ricky Stuart for not handling the situation well. But a different story was told on camera in the Post-Match Interview.

Raiders end dramatic week with golden point win over Dolphins

Days on from confirmation that key player Jack Wighton would be departing the club for the Rabbitohs at the end of the season, the Raiders picked up their fourth victory of the year in front of a vocal crowd in Wagga Wagga.

After a dream start which saw them up 10-0 after an opening eight minutes in which they didn't have to make a single tackle, the Raiders came close to being overrun by the Dolphins, who looked set to produce a stunning comeback for the second week in a row.

Wighton off to South Sydney Rabbitohs

It is believed the Rabbitohs are closing in on a  deal with Jack for $900,000 per season for four years, which is less than the money he was offered by the Raiders and other rival clubs.

Despite the Raiders wanting to retain him at the Club and having tabled him 1.4 million Australian Dollars per season for another four years, the silky five-eight decided to change club on the less money.

The reason behind this move is that he wants to win a premiership before he lashes off his boot.

Raiders hand Broncos first loss

Coming off a 41-point drubbing at the hands of Penrith last week and with only one win on the board in 2023, the Green Machine restored pride with a gritty defensive display.

It was clear from the outset that the Raiders were up for the fight and they opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Jamal Fogarty, Corey Horsburgh, Seb Kris and Matt Timoko combined to put Rapana over in the corner.

The Broncos hit back in the 16th minute when Selwyn Cobbo produced a freakish putdown in the corner despite the attention of two Raiders defenders.

With forwards Payne Haas and Pat Carrigan setting a platform for Adam Reynolds, Ezra Mam and Reece Walsh to express themselves the Broncos have piled on 29 points a game to exorcise the demons of last year's late fadeout.

On top of the humiliating scoreline against Penrith, the Raiders also lost stand-in five-eighth Matt Frawley to a hand injury so the playmaking stocks look thin as they embark on a daunting road trip to Brisbane.

Panthers pile on the points in rout of Raiders

While you wouldn't have known it by watching the second half, the game was closely contested through the opening 40 minutes, and the Panthers led by just seven points after a Sunia Turuva double and a Nathan Cleary field goal.

But after an admirable first-half effort, the Raiders had no answer for what the defending premiers came out of the break with, as the Panthers found their attacking mojo and ran in seven tries to their opponent's one.

The premiers opened the round with an epic 17-16 loss to the Eels in a match that went down to the wire and beyond while the Raiders had a Sunday afternoon to forget as they gave up a 14-8 half-time lead to go down 24-14 to the Knights.

Compounding matters for the Raiders was the sin binning of five-eighth for high contact on Jackson Hastings, with the star No.6 charged on Monday and facing a two-game ban.
