Madang businessman shot dead

According to police reports, Late Daniel Kansol was shot on Monday morning (7th February), while traveling in a PMV bus from Wawin National High School in Morobe. He was returning to Madang after delivering his children at the school. Armed criminals held up the PMV and its passengers at Belly Bridge.

Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang said the deceased was from Western Highland Province. The shooting took place at 3am. Late Kansol was seated in the front of the bus when he was shot.

​Minape confident to change Lae city

In a press conference today in Port Moresby, Minape said his aim is to change Lae city into a proper, regulated settlement city.

“Lae has been stagnant for the last 41 years and needs a visionary leader to move it forward.”

He said settlements have been popping up everywhere in Lae city and a regulated system of settlement is needed.

Minape added that Lae is the industrial hub of the country and needed somebody with a vision to lead the people and show them the way.

“If I am elected as an MP, the buck stops with me. I don’t want evictions in Lae.”

Armed thieves rob Madang businessman

The victim and two company employees were attacked by the criminals using home made guns, slingshots and bushknives.

According to police reports, the victim of Asian origin, with two of the company employees were taking the weekend takings into Madang town for banking. 

Along the way, more than 10 robbers held them up, attacked the victim and made away with K24, 000 in cash.

The police report alleges that the money was from the weekend takings, and that the Asian and helpers  were trying to conduct a bank run when they were held up.
