Oral Health Education Day

The event aimed to teach children the importance of proper oral care from a young age, instilling lifelong healthy habits.

Thanks to a generous donation from Colgate's 'Bright Smiles, Bright Futures' program, BbP children had an engaging and educational day. Colgate's program emphasizes that oral health is not just about bright smiles but also long-term well-being, stressing the consequences of untreated tooth decay, which can lead to pain, discomfort, lower self-esteem, reduced quality of life, and decreased school attendance.

Young explorers inspired

The objective of the field trip was taken to experience and learn about the heavy construction and mining equipment industry, which could offer them a glimpse into their future careers.

The young explorers had the opportunity to inspect the huge Caterpillar D11T, which is the largest track-type tractor in the world, along with other heavy-duty machines. They didn't just observe but also learned how to operate these massive vehicles. The children were even allowed inside a simulator, which provided a hands-on experience of the equipment's operation, much to their delight.

Snake awareness vital

These vital sessions came in response to a pressing issue faced by young children in Papua New Guinea, who are often at risk of venomous snakebites while playing barefoot. St. John Ambulance trainers, Junior Vai Boi and Sharon Wabiyawi, took the initiative to impart knowledge about the various types of dangerous snakes found in PNG.

They also demonstrated how to administer essential first aid in the event of a snakebite.

Children celebrate Global Handwashing Day

The celebration focused on imparting essential personal hygiene practices through interactive methods such as play and song. Children worldwide are being encouraged to sing a familiar tune, like "Happy Birthday," twice while washing their hands—a technique proven to ensure sufficient time for the removal of germs and bacteria.

Literacy boost for girls

The event unfolded at the 6 Mile Library Learning Centre, where children greeted PNG Air's Chief Commercial Officer, Simon Pitt, and Marketing and Media Coordinator, Dalai Thomas, with soaring paper planes.

Enthusiastic students at the center delved into 'When I Grow Up, I want to be a Pilot,' a collaborative work between BbP and PNG Air in 2021.

International Literacy Day Book launched

The event, sponsored by ExxonMobil PNG, featured the launch of two books and a crucial Snake Awareness presentation.

BbP, renowned for its Early Childhood Education program, unveiled its latest literary offerings. The first book, titled 'When I Grow Up I Want to be a Zoo Keeper,' was developed with the generous financial support of the Sir Brian Bell Foundation. This delightful reader features 5-year-old Iruna Vagini alongside his role model, Zoo Keeper Rose-Bernadette Wakrima, inspiring young minds with dreams of caring for animals.

Book Week celebrates future rugby players

The book, aimed at motivating young minds to envision their future careers, was introduced by 10 enthusiastic children from Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) during a remarkable field trip to the iconic Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.

The purpose of the trip was to offer these children a firsthand experience of the life of a rugby player, engaging with SP Hunters Players and absorbing the essentials of the profession.

Dr. Tania Areori - Inspiring Veterinary Dreams

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP), is collaborating with Dr. Areori to release a reader named "When I Grow Up I Want to be a Vet," aimed at inspiring young minds.

Dr. Areori's remarkable trajectory from nurturing a childhood dream to making it a reality is a shining example of perseverance, and BbP is delighted to have her on board to motivate children to chase their aspirations with vigor.

BbP Volunteer wins raise for charity

The adrenaline-packed 400-meter pram race was expertly organized by dynamic duo, Will and Woody, in collaboration with KIIS 101.1.

The exhilarating race featured a heart-pounding competition among the participants, with Steve exhibiting extraordinary determination and skill, ultimately claiming the coveted title.
