Perese has "beast mode" up sleeve: Kerevi

Kerevi, Perese and Fijian flyer Filipo Daugunu will be the enterprising outside backs that could set the Suncorp Stadium crowd alight come Friday, when the Tens take hold of Brisbane.

Kerevi will captain the Reds and he has high hopes for their campaign this weekend.

"Izzy has the switch he can put on and he can just go beast mode," Kerevi said.

"Filipo has amazing feet, he's been training well for us and he played exceptionally well for (Queensland) Country so I am excited to see him out there.

Beale ruled out of Brisbane Tens

Beale was ruled out of the Brisbane Tens with an elbow injury, less than a day after being named in the Waratahs squad for the tournament.

The 29-year-old is one of the tournament's promotional ambassadors, suffered the injury in training last week and was unable to shake it off in time.

Beale will still travel with the team and fulfil his ambassadorial role but his absence on the field is a blow to the tournament, with many teams already reluctant to bring their top-line stars.

Hayman said it was disappointing to see a draw card like Beale pull out.

Carlos Spencer primed for Blues reunion at Brisbane Tens

Except, he's really not.

"He's got all the gear on and I mistook him for one of my players today because he looks in good condition, he's testing well," coach Tana Umaga said, having watched him complete a "bronco" shuttle-run exercise the day before.

Legendary first-five Spencer - now aged 42 - guided the Aucklanders to their last Super Rugby triumph in 2003 before departing the franchise in 2005.

Arguably, they still haven't replaced him in the No.10 jumper.
