Fire suspect also implicated in stealing

The suspect, who is also the divisional administrative clerk for the NCD / Central commander’s office, was at the scene when fire service arrived. She was later apprehended at her home by police who were tipped off by suspicious circumstances.

When police apprehended her, they found a substantial amount of cash alleged to be part of the K184,300 money that was taken off from the former NCD elections manager, Terrence Hetinu, during the polling period earlier this year.

Kalaut confirms fire was arson

In a media conference today, Kalaut said the fire started between 6 to 6:30pm yesterday evening.

The prime suspect who is also the administrative clerk was a caught in the blazing heat when fire service arrived at the scene.

Work has come to a standstill today for the office, as the fire has affected the commander's office, prosecutor’s office, the sexual offence squad office and the armed robbery squad office.
