Namah made the call as almost all countries of Europe halted rollout of this particular vaccine on initial reports of side effects.

Most European countries, except England which produced this vaccine, have halted vaccinations on early reports of blood clotting.

Namah said if Marape insisted on the rollout, him and his front bench cabinet ministers and their families must get vaccinated first.

He said although he had already apologized on several occasions, it is only fitting to do it again as the body of the late Grand Chief Sir lies in state, in the Parliament chamber for the last time.
 
Namah also apologised to former Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia for storming the court house.
 
He clarified that his move during those times were politically motivated and not personal.

The Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat in his application stated that under Section 110 (1) of the Constitution, the Speaker is obliged to certify under the National Seal in accordance with the Standing Orders of the Parliament that a law has been made by Parliament.

Pomat argued that under the Standing Order 221 of the Parliament, ‘every act made by the Parliament shall be presented to the Speaker for certification under the National Seal, having been first certified by the signature of the Clerk as having been passed by the Parliament.

Manning was responding to comments by Namah claiming that the announcement on the first COVID-19 case in Vanimo is fake.

Manning said the patient in Vanimo was tested at the Sandaun Provincial Hospital through the geneXpert machine and the results were formally transmitted to the National Control Centre health technical team for announcement.

Dr Stella Jimmy, Director of Curative Health at the Sandaun Provincial Health Authority, confirmed that the patient was tested positive for COVID-19. She said the patient is being moved into an isolation facility.

Young and Williams Lawyers, Counsel for Namah, lodged the Supreme Court Application (SCC OS/4/2020) at 9.36am on Wednesday.

Namah in a statement said the Opposition has applied to have the Act struck down as unconstitutional under Section 41 of the Constitution by the Supreme Court.

He clarified that they have find the National Pandemic Act to be contrary to the Constitution for the following reasons:-

“I was instructed by Greg Sheppard, the principal of Young & Williams, to serve the Supreme Court documents to Prime Minister James Marape at about 1pm,” stated Wagula.

“I went to the Prime Minister’s Office and the security allowed me to go up to the 9^th floor.

Namah made this call in a press conference in Port Moresby.

Leader of the Opposition Belden Namah is calling on the Government to tell the people of the country how the 23 million Kina COVID-19 funds is being spent as there is no supplementary budget to cater for the expenses.

Mr Namah made this call after Treasurer Ian Ling Stuckey announced an additional K600 million to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

“Whilst all the rest of the world is scaling down on its response on COVID-19, PNG is scaling up with its response.

Namah said such actions taken by the Government fails to address the effects of COVID-19 on the struggling private sector and the people of PNG.

He explained that the passing of the Supplementary Budget will give effect to the recent announcement of the K5.6 billion stimulus package.

Namah said the Government plans to introduce its Fiscal Stimulus Package in the June session of Parliament.

He asked why prolong it for another two months, when they can intervene through the fiscal policy adjustment now.

Wong said this in response to allegations made by the Opposition Leader that the State of Emergency declared by the Government was illegal.

Minister Wong said everything is done legally adding the Opposition leader is trying to play politics at this time when they are all trying to save the nation.
