PNG Barramundis still in the mix for World T20

The Barramundis finished in fourth place for pool A and must now win all games in order to get one of the four remaining qualification spots for India. Ireland and Scotland took the two automatic qualifying positions by virtue of finishing top of their pools.

The PNG Barramundis will face winner of Afghanistan and Hong Kong on Thursday 23rd July at 7pm PNG time, with the match to be shown live on Digicel Play and TVWAN Sports HD.

PNG, Namibia and Hong Kong, along with Ireland, are through to the next stage of the tournament.

PNG in World Twenty20 shock, beating Ireland

They beat the previously undefeated Ireland team.

Assad Vala and Norman Vanua were the heroes for PNG, keeping  the team in the hunt for runs.

Ireland’s William Porterfield hit an unbeaten 57 as the Irish struggled to a modest 123-9 from their 20 overs at Stormont.

Norman Vanua's unbeaten 28 from 10 balls, including three sixes in the 19th over, took Papua New Guinea to 124-8 with seven balls to spare.

Ireland lost their 100% record but remain Group A leaders, a point ahead of second-placed Papua New Guinea.

Rain washes out Barramundis’ match

Match points were shared between the two teams leaving the Barramundis second in Pool A and heading for a top of the table clash with Ireland on Wednesday night PNG time.

Barras win in world T20 start up

Jersey had secured a shock win over Hong Kong in their first match ever at an ICC global qualifying event but the Barramundis were too good for the tournament newcomers.

The Barramundis lost the toss and were sent in to bat after a delayed start due to rain.

Openers Lega Siaka (26) and Tony Ura (22) got the team off to a flying start putting on 44 in the first 4 overs before Siaka was dismissed.
