Aussies cruise to 48-8 win in PM’s XIII

Over 13,000 swarmed into the National Football Stadium to watch a near full-strength Kangaroos side take on a PNG outfit, dominated by Digicel Cup players - a David and Goliath battle.

It took over ten minutes for the Australians to cross the line through Trbojevic who crossed for his first.

The 20-minute mark is where the momentum shifted in favour of the home side after a break from five-eighth Jason Missian.

As expected, the two teams arrived to a rousing welcome from hundreds of rugby league fanatics.

The scorching sun did nothing to stop men, women and children who swarmed in as early as 11:30am to the Jackson’s International Airport.

The PM's XIII and Jillaroos were greeted at the ceremonial car park by a dancing group from Vabukori village.

After 1:30pm, the teams were then escorted by the PNG Rugby Football League and the PNG National Rugby League onto their buses.

Meninga: PNG did extremely well

Speaking after Saturday's game, Meninga commended the efforts of the NGCB PNG PM's XIII.

"I thought the effort tonight from PNG was really spirited.

"They had great attitude playing against one of the best teams in the world.

"Considering the players Michael had at his helm, I thought PNG did extemely well,"I think the future of rugby league in PNG is pretty bright" said Meninga.

He added there were a lot of good perfromances from the  PNG players.

15, 011 vocal fans packed the stadium to watch what was a David and Goliath battle.

The Australians were in to score as early as the fourth minute when a kick to the wing from five eighth Mitchell Moses fell safely into the hands of Josh Dugan who ran into score.

The visitors were back minutes later after quick hands sent a flying Blake Ferguson over for the Australian's second try.

The Australians were up 16-0 by the 17th minute this time sending in Semi Radradra who was too big and strong to stop from finding the line.
