At the start of her career, Jane Marczweski was just a college student — a girl with a dream of one day making it big — and boy, did she ever.

After a hard-fought battle, the 31-year-old Marczewski, who went by the stage name “Nightbirde,” passed away Sunday, according to several press reports. Her physical journey on this side of eternity may have come to a close, but there will be no final curtain call on the indelible mark she left on the lives of so many people around the globe.

She performed her cover of Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones on America's Got Talent: The Champions on Monday night.

Boyle received the show's highest accolade when judge Mel B pressed her golden buzzer to put the singer straight through to the finals.

The Spice Girls star described Boyle's voice as "angelic".

"What an absolute honour and pleasure it is to be sitting here and listening to you and your angelic voice," she said.

"And I want to be the woman who gives you something you deserve," she added, before pressing the buzzer.

Brandon Rogers, a physician from Portsmouth, Virginia, was 29 years old and already a viral video star.

On Tuesday's episode the NBC reality competition first issued a statement before launching into tape of his audition.

"On June 11th one of our contestants, Brandon Rogers, tragically passed away in a car accident," the statement read. "At the request of his family we would like to honor his memory by sharing his audition with you."

The singing doctor explained he was drawn to medicine because of a near tragedy.

The comedian on Monday said he intends to vacate his position as host after being "threatened with termination" by executives at NBC as a result of jokes made at the show's expense on his Showtime comedy special.

"I find myself in a dark place having to make a decision that I wish I didn't have to, but as a man, an artist, and a voice for my community I will not be silenced, controlled or treated like a piece of property," Cannon wrote in a lengthy Facebook post. "There is no amount of money worth my dignity or my integrity."

Twelve-year-old singer-songwriter Grace VanderWaal was an early front-runner, and she was crowned the winner Wednesday.

VanderWaal sobbed as her name was announced, and judge Howie Mandel, who granted her entrance into the competition via the golden buzzer, rushed to the stage to hug her.

"You are on your way," Mandel told her. "I love you, you are so special."

The young singer, dubbed by judge Simon Cowell "the next Taylor Swift," began writing songs at 3 and used her 11th birthday money to buy a ukulele.
