PNG envoy sets record with imperial award

Ambassador Michael Maue was bestowed the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star on March 3.

This is the second highest award after the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, which Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare received earlier.

“Ambassador Maue would be the first recipient from PNG to be bestowed this award,” says the Papua New Guinea Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.

“Maue, from Koge village in Simbu Province, is a career diplomat who retired from the PNG Foreign Service in February 2012 after having worked 34 years in the public service.

Children participate in Global Hand Washing Day

GHD is celebrated on October 15 every year however, SOPNG chose to have the kids commemorate the Day during its unified football finals today.

The Day is an opportunity to design, test, and replicate creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times.

It is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an easy, effective, and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.

Today’s activity was hosted by Water Aid.
